Ever thought about banana soup? Sounds unusual, right? We thought so too when we saw our Vietnamese Airbnb Housekeeper making it.

Well, get ready to be amazed as we share with you on creating super easy Belly Pork Banana Soup – a tasty quick soup to prepare on a lazy day.

Peeling bananas might seem easy, but banana gooey latex can be tricky. Our attempt to prevent latex sticking to our knife by lathering with oil didn't work – our bananas turned messy black!

Boil the potatoes for 15 minutes then fry the sliced pork until it's golden.

In the wok with oil add bombay onions and garlic, cooked until tender then add the turmeric.

Our Vietnamese housekeeper smashed and chopped up the fresh turmeric but we decided not to chopped ours.

Fish sauce is an important ingredient so do not replace or skip this. It brings out an umami fragrance and aroma you cannot substitute with other sauces.

As the soup simmers, our mistake unfolds – too many onions turned it an unexpected color. Oh no, more black colour but the taste test brought a surprise.

The bananas were soft, like potatoes, and really tasty with a tinge of sourness and a crunch from the outer skin. The soup tasty and full of umami from the fish sauce and turmeric.
