What You Need
To make this cake, you'll need:
Wet Ingredients
1 Big Egg
60ml Milk
1/2 Teaspoon Lemon Paste
60ml Oil
50g Sugar
Dry Ingredients
90g Flour
0.5 Teaspoon Baking Powder
0.25 Teaspoon Baking Soda
0.5 Teaspoon Salt
Topping
Butter
Sugar
2 Ripe Bananas
How We Did It
We spread some butter on a 28cm non-stick frying pan and sprinkled sugar on top. We also sprinkled some cinnamon powder to give the cake more flavor. And because we love cinnamon.
We sliced 2 ripe bananas lengthwise and placed them on top of the butter in the pan. We tried to make a nice pattern, but it didn’t really matter because we were going to flip the cake anyway.
Next, we used a food processor to mix the wet ingredients: egg, milk, lemon paste, oil, and sugar together. We blended them until they were smooth and frothy.
Then we poured the wet mixture into the dry ingredients that were thoroughly mixed earlier. We whisked both mixtures gently until no more flour was visible. We did not overmix or else we would get a rubbery texture. And nobody likes rubbery cake.
We poured the batter on top of the bananas in the pan. We made sure to cover them evenly and not leave any gaps.
We cooked it on the stove for 25 minutes on very low heat with a pan cover on. After 25 minutes, we noticed the cake had pulled away from the sides and if we pressed down the cake, it bounced back up. This was the sign that the cake was done. We also smelled the delicious aroma of banana.
We turned the gas stove flame to high and made a circular motion with the pan. This burned the bottom and gave the bananas a nice golden brown color.
We carefully flipped the cake onto a large plate. We admired our masterpiece.
The cake tasted so good!
It was moist and had a nice banana flavor. We tried different ways to make it. Some worked better than others. But in the end, we made a yummy cake without an oven.
