How I made the Biggest Famous Amos Cookie

We would probably get the Guinness book of records for the biggest famous Amos cookies ever made. Look at that! Our cookie has the size of a human head. :D

We choose to make this cookie using Famous Amos Recipe. You must be asking why famous Amos cookie?

Where we live the most prominent cookie outlet is famous Amos and Malaysians are super obsessed in finding the secret recipe for this cookie since the first outlet came to our shores including me.

And it will NOT be a chocolate chip cookie though because we wanted something healthier. I am not saying that this recipe is healthy in first place but the fact that it has raisins and oatmeal makes it healthier.

Raisin gives us fiber. Great for digestion

Oatmeal which has beta-glucan that can help lower high cholesterol

Let us start making our cookie dough

Cream butter and sugar until creamy. Some of you must be thinking one cup of sugar is a lot right but it is a MUST if you want to call it an ALMOST famous Amos cookie. I have explain it in this video.

Famous Amos recipe is something I have done a lot of R&D on throughout my years of baking and I think I can say that this recipe is as close as I can get to that secret recipe.

I think beside the sugar the two ingredient that makes this recipe as good as real Famous Amos is the almond powder and oats. In this recipe we are going to use a lot more oats that it usually calls for.

If you want the perfect Famous Amos crunch then patience is a must. This dough needs to chill overnight. Scoop and roll out the dough if you are not planning to make them into one big giant cookie.

To ensure our big cookie comes out a perfect circle, we are going to place our cookie dough in this spring cake pan. We only have a 7.5 inch cake pan so it will have to do.

Drop spoonful of the dough all around the pan then using your hands press in the dough so it covers all the space in the pan.

we put the pan to bake for 15 minutes at 170C

Trying to pry the bake cookie without breaking. This cookie is very fragile. Do this step really really slow

Lets be realistic this cookie is too big! Almost impossible to bite into. We end up breaking it into bite size pieces. We found the middle part to be under bake. We fix that by baking the broken cookies another 5 minutes in the oven.

This step made the cookie even more more crunchy and super delicious.

Another problem with this cookie is storage. It will not fit in the cookie jar. We end up breaking it into smaller pieces.

In conclusion we found this broken cookie pieces is quite nicer than than the usual round shape cookie.
