Can this 3 easy healthy home recipes be done in 30 minutes? Hot and sour Vegetable Soup in 10 minutes? Stir fry vegetable cashew nuts in ten minutes

AND a Jelly sago melon dessert also in 10 minutes?

Is microwave better than oil to cook?

Everyone wants a fast home cooked meal. In our latest video we tested if 30 minutes is enough to cook up 3 recipes. It was a little hectic but doable.

A little thinking and planning is required so we can meet the 30 minutes deadline.

Hot and sour vegetable soup is not complete without crunchy puffy glass noodles as garnish 


Frying glass noodles in oil to puff them up is nothing new to us. We were curious enough to test 6 noodles to see which one puff up the best in this video.


But too much oil is not a healthy choice. We decided to try cooking these glass noodles using microwave instead. It is faster and meets our 30 minutes deadline.

However there is a problem with microwave. The noodles do not puff up simultaneously. There will be parts of it that will not puff. You can see the uncooked part in the photo below. 

If we microwaved them too long, some parts started to burn. We broke the uncooked parts off and reserved the cooked puff noodles for garnishing. 

At the same time we decided to experiment with prawn crackers and poppadom.

Short burst of 10 seconds then another at 5 seconds will give you a perfect cracker. But when we let it run 15 seconds straight again we got burned cracker instead.

Do take note. Microwaved crackers cannot compete with oil cooked crackers. Just look at that size from our oily friend! The bigger crackers were fried with oil. Same thing happened with the papadum.

First we cook our sago pearls for our dessert recipe sago pearl jelly with melon

We found adding sago pearls in hot boiling water will instantly cooked the outer skin of the sago and help to keep the ball shape.

When we add the sago pearls in normal water then boiling it, the sago started to dissolved and what we got starchy soup instead.

Pour some soy milk to the sago pearls so it will not stick together become lumps

Scoop some melon balls

Sliced the jelly of your choice. 

Pour the sago pearl milk on top and served chilled or not. They look fantastic and awesome right?

Sago pearls take some time to cook while it is boiling away we prepare the sauces for our vegetable dish and vegetable soup. All that has taken 5 minutes

We have made this soup before and since then it's our favorite soup on our laziest day 

It's not only healthy easy super quick to assemble but so delicious.

Now we cut the vegetables for soup. Cabbage, carrot, long beans and chili

Back to the soup fry garlic, onion and coriander.

Pour the water then the sauce. Let it simmer until the vegetables are tender. 



Hot & Sour Vegetable soup is not complete without garlic chili oil. We make them at home instead of buying. We used a lot of chili oil in our dishes as a complementary condiment. Watch this next video to see what else we do with it


A teaspoon of our homemade garlic chili oil gives the soup an interesting color and flavor.


Then do not forget to sprinkled the fried or microwaved glass noodle on top. Served hot. Kindly take note the noodles will start to absorb the soup and will not hold its shape for long.


INGREDIENT

6 Dried Shitake Mushrooms (Soak with water to red hydrated them then sliced finely)

50g Cabbage

2 Carrots

1 Green Peppers

8 French Beans

5 clove of Garlic

6 slices of Ginger

3 Shallots

1 large Onion.

After you finish cutting the vegetables, It is time to prepare the sauce.

THE SAUCE

1 tsp of Salt

1/2  tsp of Pepper

1 tsp of Chicken Stock Granule

1 Tbsp of Vinegar

1 Tbsp of dark Soy Sauce

1L  water 

2 tbsp Garlic Chili Oil

Cornstarch Slurry

On another pot, blanched snow peas and baby carrots in hot water. Drain and set aside

Fry cashew nuts in oil until brown, drain and put asideLeave behind some oil then fry the garlic


Pour in the stir fry sauce and quickly pour on to the peas and carrots. Sprinkle the cashew nuts. Yummmm

It is 30 minutes and time to eat.
