TIP 1 Refry the paste

To make Laksa Sarawak at home, you just buy the ready made paste, add coconut milk, add water and the soup is ready to be eaten.

But to us, we go a little further, something happens when you go a little further whether it is in cooking a meal or the little things that you do in life

By re frying the paste your soup will become richer and has a deeper flavor. 

To avoid burning the paste though, you must fry it in low heat. Slowly reheating the paste until you can smell the aroma.

When it starts to emits a strong fragrant that is when you shut off the flame and do the next step of making laksa Sarawak soup.

TIP no 2 is not utilizing the prawn and the chicken stock

One of the attributes of Laksa Sarawak is having shredded boil chicken and prawns.

Do not throw away the water that is used to boil the chicken and prawns. Sometimes something we think should be thrown away can become something useful.

Using this stock water will turns the laksa sarawak soup richer and tastier.

TIP no 3 is Not adding dry shrimp paste

This is shrimp paste or belacan in our local language. You might not like the smell but you will definitely love its deep umami taste. 

The most distasteful things in life can make extraordinary miracles. In this case it is true. This smelly shrimp paste will give a savory kick to the flavor of the soup.

TIP no 4 is eating it too soon.

As we all already know everything good comes with patience. After you cook your soup do not eat it straight away. Keep laksa Sarawak soup overnight without the coconut milk.

The herbs and spices will be more infused into the soup and what you will get the next day is an even more aromatic and flavorful soup.

TIP no 5 adding the coconut milk too soon and letting it boil

Applying patience will have a magical effect on any laksa soup.

If you rush this process and add the coconut milk too soon it will start to change form, separate and you will get a curdling texture soup. 

By adding your coconut milk last just before serving and bringing it to a slow simmer instead of boiling you get a smooth creamy soup.
